Directive 2006/42/EC

The standard

Directive 2006/42/EC of the European Parliament and of the European Council of 17 May 2006 amending Directive 95/16/EC covers the procedures for the certification of Machinery.   

A “Machinery” is defined as:
“an assembly, fitted with intended to be fitted with a drive system other than directly applied human or animal effort, consisting of linked parts or components, at least one of which moves, and which are joined together for a specific application”.

Annex IV of the Directive lists a series of machinery equipment for which the intervention of the Notified Body is necessary for applying the conformity assessment procedures laid on art. 12.

Where the machinery to be certified is not referred to in Annex IV, the manufacturer or his authorised representative shall apply the procedure for assessment of conformity with internal checks on the manufacture of machinery provided for in Annex VIII.

Where the machinery to be certified is referred to in Annex IV and manufactured in accordance with the harmonized standards, the manufacturer or his authorised representative shall apply one of the following procedures:

  1. conformity assessment through internal checks on the manufacture of machinery, provided for in Annex VIII;
  2. the EC type-examination procedure provided for in Annex IX, plus the internal checks on the manufacture of machinery provided for in Annex VIII
  3. the full quality assurance procedure provided for in Annex X

 

Where the machinery to be certified is referred to in Annex IV and has not been manufactured or only partly in accordance with the harmonised standards, or if no harmonised standards exist for the machinery in question, the manufacturer or his authorised representative shall apply one of the following procedures

  1. the EC type-examination procedure provided for in Annex IX, plus the internal checks on the manufacture of the machinery provided for in Annex VIII;
  2. the full quality assurance procedure provided for in Annex X

ANCCP service

ANCCP Certificaiton Agency is a Body who is notified to the European Union (n°0302) for granting the cCe conformity certificates of the machinery equipment listed in Annex IV according to the following procedures:

  • Annex IX (CE-Type Examination) ;
  • Annex X( Full Quality Assurance)

The machinery equipment laid on Annex IV and that ANCCP certificates are:

  • Circular saws (single- or multi-blade) for working with wood and material with similar physical characteristics or for working with meat and material with similar physical characteristics
  • Hand-fed surface planing machinery for woodworking;
  • Thicknessers for one-side dressing having a built-in mechanical feed device, with manual loading and/or unloading for woodworking.
  • Band-saws with manual loading and/or unloading for working with wood and material with similar physical characteristics or for working with meat and material with similar physical characteristics
  • Combined machinery for working with wood and material with similar physical characteristics
  • Hand-fed tenoning machinery with several tool holders for woodworking.
  • Hand-fed vertical spindle moulding machinery for working with wood and material with similar physical characteristics
  • Portable chainsaw for wood working
  • Presses, including press-brakes, for the cold working of metals, with manual loading and/or unloading, whose movable working parts may have a travel exceeding 6 mm and a speed exceeding 30 mm/s.
  • Injection or compression plastics-moulding machinery with manual loading or unloading.
  • Injection or compression rubber-moulding machinery with manual loading or unloading
  • Vehicle servicing lifts
  • Devices for the lifting of persons or of persons and goods by more than three metres.

Interested parties

Manufacturers, importers, distributors and business operators aiming to place on the European Market the Machinery as defined by Directive 2006/42/CE have to obtain the certificate of conformity that enables them to affix the CE Marking on the finished product.

For machinery equipment mentioned in Annex IV, the manufacturer (or his authorised representative) has to contact a Notified Body in order to get a certificate of conformity, by choosing between one of the following conformity assessment procedures:

Annex IX (CE-Type Examination)

Annex X (Full Quality Assurance)

 

CE Marking plus the filling of the CE Declaration of Conformity enables the selling of products in all Member States of the European Union.
