The European Standard
The Decree n. 115/2014 by the Ministry of the Internal Affairs establishes that Private Security Institutes have to ask for the certificate according to UNI CEN EN 50518:2020 to a Notified Body that is accredited and authorized by the Ministry of the Internal Affairs.
The standard classifies the Monitoring and Alarm Receiving Centres (MARC) into two categories:
- Category I – Management of alarm signals in the field of security;
- Category II – Management of the alarms signals in the safety field
For each category, the standard determines the minimum requirements of the monitoring, reception and analysis of the signals produced by alarm systems, which are part of a security management process involving both security and safety.
The new version of standard UNI CEI EN 50518 is the standard UNI CEI EN 50518:2020, which will definitely substitute UNI CEI EN 50518:2014 starting from 07.02.2022. The two standards will coexist until 06.02.2022, but after that day the 2014 edition will not be valid anymore and will be withdrawn.
ANCCP Service
As an Independent Notified Body, which is authorized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and is accredited by Accredia, ANCCP Certification Agency S.r.l carries out activities in the field of the Monitoring and Alarm Receiving Centres certification in conformity with standard UNI CEI EN 50518. This certification is a cat. II certification.
Interested parties
The Private Security Institutes that are obliged to get the certification of their own monitoring and alarm receiving centres (MARC) are the ones with the prefectural authorization enabling them to operate with more than 100 private security guards (Dimensional Level n.4) in a ultra-provincial territorial working area with more than 3 million inhabitants (Territorial areas n.4 and 5).
