Metallic Structures in Steel and Aluminium

Reg. (UE) 305/2011

The European standard

The European Regulation on Construction Products (EU) 305/2011 – CPR – defines the obligaiton of certification of the steel and aluminium structures according to the System of Attestation 2+.

The applicable reference standards are:

EN 1090-1 –“Execution of steel structures and aluminium structures – Part 1: Requirements for conformity assessment of structural components”

EN 1090-2 – “Execution of steel structures and aluminium structures – Part 2: Technical requirements for steel structures”

EN 1090-3 – “Execution of steel structures and aluminium structures – Part 3: Technical requirements for aluminium structures”

EN 1090-4 “Execution of steel structures and aluminium structures – Part 4: Technical requirements for cold-formed structural steel elements and cold-formed structures for roof, ceiling, floor and wall applications”

EN 1090-5 “Execution of steel structures and aluminium structures – Part 5: Technical requirements for cold-formed structural aluminium elements and cold-formed structures for roof, ceiling, floor and wall applications”

Such standards specify the requirements for the conformity assessments of the steel and aluminium structural components for the construction of metallic structures and mixed structures (concrete and steel).

The elements can be used directly in the works or be combined with them after being assembled. The standard applies to production in series and not in series.

Metallic structures needing the CE marking are for example: warehouses, platform roofs, stairs, awnings, etc.

During the manufacturing of the steel/aluminum product, if welding activities take place, these have to be performed according to the EN ISO 3834 standard series and will have to let their procedures and welding operators qualified.

ANCCP service

ANCCP Certification Agency works as Notified Body to the European Union (n ° 0302) for the certification of the steel and aluminium structures, according to the System of Attestation 2+.

Interested parties

The manufacturers of steel and aluminium structures need the Fabric Production Control certificate, which is fundamental for being authorized to affix the CE marking.

Such certificate, issued after an initial positive inspection, has to be maintained active through the subsequent regular conformity inspections.
